Week 9 Term 3, 15 September 2017
On the night of the Last Supper
You gave us yourself in the Eucharist
To unite us with you and with one another.
You teach us with your Word
You nourish us with Holy Communion
You strengthen our faith in you, Lord
You help us to serve others as you did
You listen to our prayers and petitions
You bless us with grace in abundance
You forgive us our faults and our wrongdoings
You bring us your life and your love.
Through our celebration of this sacrament
May we come to you in thankfulness.
May we never forget your great love.
Draw us closer to you, fill us with your love
and help us to serve you in those we meet.
Amen

SACRAMENT OF FIRST EUCHARIST
This Sunday is a very important one in the lives of many of our year four students and their families. For the very first time, the boys and girls will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist.
This is a very important step in the faith journey of these children. Together with their families and teachers, they have been preparing for this special ‘meal’ which will nourish them spiritually each time they receive the Eucharist.
Jesus gave us this Sacrament for the first time at the Last Supper. He called us to remember Him always by continuing to celebrate and share the Eucharistic meal. Through the Eucharist we give thanks to God. He invites us to share in this special meal of God’s love for us. We are strengthened and called to share God’s love with others.
Please keep the candidates and their families in your prayers. We especially remember the following students and their families
Alvarez, Javier Anderson, Matilda Campbell, Josephine Curuk-Kidd, Wesley Delfin, Jaime Demario Machardo, Latisha Dequina, Xeline Drummond-Hay, Mia Edwards, Lachlan Firns, Luke Griffiths, Gabriella Kellie, Cooper Kirby, Chase Lambly, Ella Lovelock, Natasha |
Lupica, Thomas Magmuise, Joshua Payet, Preston Reed, Bethany Ryan, Tia Sharne, David Sharne, Hamish Sharne, Jack Skinner, Bronwyn Taylor, Brooke Touchell, Kasey Wales, Gabriella Wales, Mali Garing, Princess |
Special thanks to all who helped prepare for this special day, especially the parents and the children’s teachers: Miss Mitchell, Mr Harris and Mr Sibbald for assisting in coordinating the Sacramental Program. First Holy Communion Mass will be celebrated this Sunday at 11am at St Brigid’s Church. We wish all of our First Holy Communicants and their families all the very best for Sunday.
Our prayer for them is that this will be the start of a lifelong relationship with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist.
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS

GRANDPARENTS’ LITURGY AND MORNING TEA (WEEK 3 TERM FOUR)
On Tuesday 24 October, we will be hosting a Grandparents’ Liturgy and Morning Tea. This will no doubt be a very special morning for all grandparents to have the opportunity to share part of the school day with their grandchild/ren and to observe the learning that takes place in the classrooms. Invitations will be sent home next week and I ask you to please forward them on to grandparents. I will be calling upon parent helpers to set up tables and chairs on the day and help get things ready for the morning tea.
The role grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren may differ significantly but they all share a unique opportunity to help shape the future through their involvement in the lives of their grandchildren.
LOST UNIFORM ITEMS
Several uniform items have gone missing and parents have not been able to find these, despite the fact that they are clearly labelled. I ask that parents and students check their uniform items carefully - just in case you have picked up another person’s item. Thank you for your assistance.

FOSSIL MAKING AND GATHERING
Last week our children had been enjoying lots of digging in the garden and the sandpit hunting for “treasures”. This week we are creating our very own fossils with hidden baby dinosaurs and sparkling jewels. We are using terracotta clay and air dry white clay to mould the fossils with our hands into all different shapes for a real feel and lookalike rock. We will have a talk about fossils in a mini meeting with the younger children, whilst the older children hide the fossils and jewels around the yard for the big treasure expedition hunt on Thursday after school. Some children suggested putting indigenous tracking marks on their clay while it was still wet as they explained back in the day someone must have come across these fossil in caves. We loved listening to the children’s ideas and explanations of dinosaurs and why there might be jewels collecting in the ground. We will watch a short 10 minute clip on dinosaur fossil collection and with parental permission we would like to show half an hour of the G rated movie "The Land Before Time" on Friday afternoon. Please see Melanie to sign the permission form if your child is attending on Friday the 15th Sept to watch the movie. -
