Dear Father in heaven,
We thank you for our School, our families, our friends and our environment.
Help us make our School a better place, by being more like St Brigid, who loved, helped, cared and shared.
Thank you for all the people who do things for us.
Bless us all today and everyday. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our lord. Amen

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a magical night we celebrated last Saturday when our amazing P & F hosted the first social event of the year. It was an absolute joy to see so many families join us and dance the night away. Watching the children run through the bubbles and dancing on the green was delightful. It was great to see the imaginative costumes that were worn by our students and their families. A great initiative this year was prizes for the best costumes. It was fabulous to have so many wonderful people jump into a costume and take part on the night. The music was outstanding and it was sensational to see so many parents singing along.
We had our marvelous band of workers behind the scenes and working hard on the night to make this event so successful. To Karryn Purchase our P & F President a huge thankyou and to her amazing helpers. Special thanks also to Joanne Johnson and Jenny Separovich who really jumped into action from day one and were tireless in their efforts to make Saturday night incredible. I have watched as these awesome women have worked their magic. The thought and drive they show is endless. The dressing up before the event to help our community get into the spirit was just sensational to watch. They always go above and beyond. On the night we saw a fantastic band of helpers come and work throughout the night. Peter our awesome grounds man was on hand throughout the day and night helping out to assist our amazing workers and Kylie Dickerson our canteen manageress joined in to help the night run smoothly.
It really is a team effort so thankyou to all our helpers you made a difference in our community and we are most grateful. This was a wonderful way to begin our school year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
We will be holding our AGM for the P & F and the School Board on Wednesday 27th February in the school Hall. We would like to invite all our parents to come and hear about our school and what took place in 2018 as well as plans for 2019. At the same time we will be viewing our NAPLAN results and talking about our plans for 2019 including the introduction of MinLit and MacLit into our school. These programs aim to assist children who are struggling with literacy. We will begin the evening with wine and cheese and look forward to your presence. It is a wonderful opportunity to see how our school runs and the many plans that are in place to make our school shine.
God Bless

MATHLETICS
This year our school will be introducing Mathletics, which will be available for all students in Years 3-6. Mathletics is a targeted, rewarding and captivating online learning resource, which is aligned to WA Curriculum standards. Your child has take-home access to Mathletics – they simply sign in with their school username and password using any compatible computer or mobile device. Students have either received or will soon receive their login details. The extra Mathletics practice at home can make all the difference to your child’s progress. Encourage them to achieve a weekly target of 1000 points to earl a certificate, building through bronze, silver and gold across the school year. To help gain a greater understanding of this program, we encourage you to spend the time looking at it with your child.
What does Mathletics offer our students?

AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATION
I am extremely fortunate this week to announce that Kasey Touchell (6A), has been selected in the U14 Australian Diamonds Softball Squad for 2019. This squad will be travelling to Auckland, New Zealand in April, and will be an opportunity for players within the squad to experience softball at an International level during this tour. Kasey at the beginning of this year, competed in the Western Australian U15 State Softball Team at the National Softball Championships, which were held in Perth. Her performances, commitment and enthusiasm in the lead up, and during the Championships, has seen her gain selection for National representation. This selection is made all the more remarkable due to the fact that Kasey is competing and training with girls who are up to 3 years older than her.
To assist Kasey with her upcoming tour, St Brigid’s School will be holding a ‘Sporting Hero’ day, on Friday the 1st March (Week 4). On this day, we are asking students to dress as a sporting hero who they look up to and to bring in a gold coin donation, with all of the money raised to be presented to Kasey, to assist with any costs associated with her tour with the Australian Team.
As a community it is important to acknowledge such an amazing achievement, and the school is so proud and excited for Kasey in the upcoming months. We wish Kasey all the best with her preparation and once again, congratulate her on her selection.

DANCE ON THE GREEN

Dance on the Green 2019
Wow! Another amazing turnout to our 3rd Annual Dance on the Green.
It was fantastic to see so many turn up for the red carpet event and dress up as their favourite movie star or character. The Dance on the Green is a way of bringing our school community together to welcome in the New Year, the new families and the new staff, but also to spend time with families and friends we have gotten to know during our time at school.
There was loads of dancing and singing with the help of Kayla Jay Duo. Thanks so much also to Kim and Charlotte from WOA Creation Station for the tireless effort of painting all those amazing faces. Please if you are on Facebook – jump on and like their page to help their business grow –

A crazy amount of bubbles and photo opportunities were floating around – especially when Olaf, Minnie and Minion Stuart turned up. We had 2 superb students from La Salle walking around taking photos (possibly trying to outdo Mr Sibbald), and taking snaps at the photo booth throughout the evening. Thanks so much to Storm and Alan for coming and helping out on the day.
It was also really touching to see so many staff turn up to the event... some even dressing up in theme as well. The support the teachers and staff have for the school and the P&F is greatly appreciated. And we can’t forget our leaders!!! Thank you so much Paula, Mike and Luke – for all that you do and bring to the school and the students.
As you can imagine – events like the Dance on the Green can’t run without all the exceptional helpers that bring together such a fun evening. There’s a lot of prior planning and organising, and what a fantastic group that pulled together this year to make it all happen. A huge thank you to Jo Johnson, Jenny Separovich, Amanda Robinson, Melanie Seegers, Naomi Caldwell, Helen Pan, Helen and Marinko Vranjes, Chris and Luke Firns, Kylie Dickenson, Emma Chessell-Keevers, Leona Van Geest, Lorena Sarich, Aaron Sarich and Kayla Vranjes (another two La Salle students who volunteered their time and did an amazing job), Pete Constable – our legendary groundsman (and we must mention Helen Constable for saving the day by scooting in on a day off to let us through the gate). An amazing group who make the night much more fun just by being who they are.
Finally, I would just like to mention some of our local businesses that helped by donating different items for our event and towards the prizes for best dressed. How lucky are we to have their support.
