PRAYER OF THE WEEK
FOR ALL SOULS DAY
Merciful Father,
hear our prayer
and console us.
As we renew
our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope
that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen
PRINCIPAL - PAULA MACKENZIE
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
November 1 is a special day called the feast of All Saints. It is the day the Church celebrates with all the people who have died and are now with God in heaven. We go to Mass and remember that all these holy people are happy with God. Everyone who has lived and died in Jesus’ love is a saint. Some of these people are members of our family, our friends, and our neighbors. We do not know the names of all the saints. Some of these people were so much like Jesus that after they died, the Church said they were definitely in heaven. Saints are people who love Jesus and share his love with others. We can all live like the saints even while we are still on earth.

On Thursday we celebrated All Saints Day Mass with our Parish in Midland. Father Benny spoke to the children about being a saint every day and the people we look up to. It was a wonderful Mass and a great celebration.

SCHOOL BATHERS
We are looking at introducing school bathers next year, they will not be compulsory but they are a high quality bather and chorine resistant. We will be offering bathers for girls and boys in our royal blue. Our school name will be on the back of the bathers in white writing. If you are thinking about purchasing bathers please keep the school bathers in mind.
SCHOOL APP
The schools app is being launched next week and will be available for Apple and Android devices. The app will pull selected information from the school website and present it to you in an easy to access format. There are many features in the app including the ability to add school calendar events from the app to your own calendar. You will also be able to find the school newsletters, canteen and uniform shop information. The image below will give you an indication of what it will look like and highlights some of the areas of interest. Once the apps are available in the apps store the school will let all parents know.

SELF ESTEEM
Self-esteem is the opinion we have of ourselves and how we perceive that others view us. Children who have high self-esteem are more able to cope with whatever happens in their lives; they are more willing to try new things and can cope better if things don’t work out the way they wanted. Children who have low self-esteem are afraid of failing and give up easily; they are less likely to try new things and are less able to make good decisions about their life. To help children who have a poor self-image you need to be gentle with their already sensitive ego.
Encourage them to:
• Think positively about themselves. Write a list of all their strengths, skills and attributes.
• Face their fears one at a time and set small, realistic goals.
• Understand that everyone makes mistakes and learns from them.
• Join a club or regular after school activity.
• ‘Have a go’ and be happy with the effort rather than the result.
• Do things for themselves (eg. household chores, personal grooming).
• Make decisions about a range of situations.
• Accept and give praise or recognition for a job or effort well done.
• Spend time alone with you so that you can tell them how special they are.
Talk to your children about their self-esteem. Let them know that they will become more confident as they grow older and have more experiences in life. Everyone has fears, but facing them allows you to learn and grow from each one.
God Bless and remember to allow the fruits of the Spirit to grow within you.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE
Over the next five weeks, we are asking the children to bring in non-perishable food items that can be donated to the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal. In the past, St Brigid’s School Community has responded to this need very well indeed. Every class will have their own basket where donations can be placed. Thank you for your support.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY NEWS
SCHOOL BANKING

Our school banking day is Wednesday morning from 8am until 8.50am. Come along and see us if you would like to join up and start saving!
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF A BANKING VOLUNTEER!
We urgently require one or two people to become banking co-ordinators for our school. What’s involved you ask?
We need someone to be available for about 1 hour on a Wednesday morning between 8am and 9am to take the banking money and slips from the children. After the children bank we enter the deposits in via the banking portal, and balance the money. This is all done on the school grounds. After we balance the school banking money, we drop the money bag off at Commonwealth Bank.
School banking benefits the school and our children and if we don’t get a volunteer or two we may not be able to continue school banking next year.
If you would like to know more, please come and see either Nicole or Kelly on a Wednesday morning or feel free to give Kelly a call on 0447 051 641.
