PRINCIPAL - PAULA MACKENZIE
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
P & F SUPERSTARS
A big thank you to our amazing P & F for their constant support throughout the year. Once again they have held the Christmas Day stalls in the school so that children can buys their gifts. What an awesome selection we saw the variety was spectacular. It was very exciting to watch our children’s faces as they made their purchases.
GRADUATION MASS
What a blessing to be part of our Graduation Mass on Tuesday. It was with great pride that we saw our Year Six student leaders celebrate their graduation Mass with their parents and staff. We heard a special mention about each and every child which was written by their teachers to honour the work they have completed in our school. Sincere thanks to Father Benny for celebrating Mass with us, Father Benny ensures that his message especially for our students as he says dream big.
Thank you also to Mike Sibbald for writing the Mass and setting up the altar as well as serving on the night. A big thank you Miss Althea Footman and Mr Darran Scattini for the amazing work they put into the evening. It takes time and dedication to ensure that every aspect of an event takes place and is memorable, they did a sensational job. Thank to our outstanding choir who sang on the night under the direction of the fabulous Mrs Alison Yeo.
The night is made so special by the joining of our community as we congratulate our super stars of the evening. Parents you can be very proud of your children as they continue to strive to do their very best.
CHOIR CAMP
I was fortunate to join our choir camp this year and participate in the fun that took place. What an awesome camp and boy di we have fun. Mrs Yeo is one in a million, the organisation that took place to make this camp run so smoothly was awe inspiring. The children had so much fun and every item was catered for. The amount of lists that I saw so the dedication and passion Mrs Yeo has for her students. Mr Harris also joined us on camp and what a super star he was during the camp. And lastly but not least to our amazing students that made the camp so much fun. You sang like angels and lifted the spirits of all who were lucky enough to hear you sing.

PRE-PRIMARY ASSEMBLY
I was blown away by our amazing Pre Primary staff and students as they performed the Nativity play for the school. What a wonderful way to begin the advent season. The re-creation of the very special night so long ago was just outstanding. The songs were lively and the whole event was superb. This was the perfect way to begin our Christmas season as we get to understand the true meaning of Christmas. To our little pre-primary students a big thank you, you sang like angles and you retold the story of Jesus’s birth perfectly.
May God Bless each and every family at this special time of the year.

REFLECTION
Advent begins this Sunday, December 2 and with it the beginning of a new Liturgical Year and the readings in the Sunday Lectionary move to Year (Weekday cycle 1).
While Advent originally had a penitential theme like Lent, we now celebrate this season with joyful expectation. As the world waited in hope for the first coming of Jesus, so we wait for him to come again.

SCHOOL NEWS
STATE REPRESENTATIVES AT ST BRIGID’S
The school has received news over the last few weeks that a couple of our students have been selected for Western Australia in their chosen sports. Both of these students have worked extremely hard and have gone through a selection process which will now lead into a gruelling training schedule before competing next year.
Kasey Touchell (5B), has been selected for the Under 15 State Softball Team, which will compete in the National Softball Championships in Perth in 2019. Kasey is an extremely gifted and hardworking athlete, who has represented the school in all CPSSA Interschool Competitions this year. What makes her selection all the more impressive is that she is the youngest in the team at just 11 years old! Kasey has been playing softball for 3 years and is focussed on her training and excited to compete next year.

Madeleine Shaw (3B) has been selected for the Western Australian Calisthenics Team, which will also compete in next year’s National Championships in Perth next year. Madeleine has been training and competing for a number of years and recently attended a number of training sessions and workshops, before being selected in the Western Australian Sub-Junior Team for 2019. We wish her all the best with her busy training schedule in the coming months and look forward to her representing WA next year.
Congratulations to both Kasey and Madeleine, the school is very proud of you and we will be looking forward to hearing about your experiences and your results next year.
I encourage all students to please come and share their sporting successes with the Leadership Team and myself, so that we can share your achievements with the school community.

SCHOOL BANKING
The School Banking program is an important tool to teach our children about saving money and planning for the future. In addition, the program raised a fantastic $1200 in commissions this year, which helped the P&F to fund important resources at St Brigid’s Primary. We would like to thank Kelly and Nicole for all their hard work over the last few years in running the program.
Unfortunately, the School Banking program may have to close next year if we can’t get some new volunteers to help run the program. Please contact Kelly on 0447 051 641 for more information about how you can help.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY NEWS
SCHOOL BANKING

Our school banking day is Wednesday morning from 8am until 8.50am. Come along and see us if you would like to join up and start saving!
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF A BANKING VOLUNTEER!
We urgently require one or two people to become banking co-ordinators for our school. What’s involved you ask?
We need someone to be available for about 1 hour on a Wednesday morning between 8am and 9am to take the banking money and slips from the children. After the children bank we enter the deposits in via the banking portal, and balance the money. This is all done on the school grounds. After we balance the school banking money, we drop the money bag off at Commonwealth Bank.
School banking benefits the school and our children and if we don’t get a volunteer or two we may not be able to continue school banking next year.
If you would like to know more, please come and see either Nicole or Kelly on a Wednesday morning or feel free to give Kelly a call on 0447 051 641.

- Difference perspective
- During mat session as an intentional teaching experience and based on an observation, we learnt about difference perspective and difference in opinions. The educator showed the children a picture and asked what they could see? It was very interesting to hear different answers of lady, scarf, bulldog. To end the conversation, we spoke about how the children felt about hearing other people's ideas on what they saw? How they felt when they got told there was an old lady and young lady in the picture? We learnt that it is ok to have a different opinion and the difference between facts and opinions, learnt to read how others react learning body language.
How big is your problem?
Mat sessions provide an opportunity for educators and children to discuss topics that are meaningful for children. We also talk about topics that relate to children's real life experiences and goals. Today, we talked about big and little problems and what the differences are between the two. The educators read out different problems and the children decide if it is a big problem or a small problem and put their thumbs up or down accordingly. We then followed up the conversation with different problem-solving solutions.
Art and Craft:
This week the children requested to do a drawing competition. One child picked the theme of Christmas. Before school, the children have enjoyed making pop-up cards. Other popular art and craft activities have been sprayed bottle silhouettes, craft and Christmas activities.
